Season kick off run - 18th April 2021
Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021 (?)
Think I may have found somewhere for an end stop Chris - https://www.dundasarms.co.uk/pub-restaurant/
The Wheatsheaf we rocked up to last year is still closed. I'll do some digging during the week...

Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021
Right then...
Weather this weekend is not looking too shabby, so let's do this.
I have failed (like last year) to find a pub that isn't either closed or already fully booked - you need a table now to be served, even if you're sitting in the garden - so instead, we'll probably just filter off after the Caen Hill Cafe stop.
Anyway, some details...
Stage 1
Winchester M3 Southbound services for a 9am kick off. 48 miles / 1hr15 or so to get to Caen Hill cafe for a bacon bap and tea.
Stage 2
A 20 mile twisty A road route going up to the M4 south of Swindon, ending at an Esso garage with toilets and a coffee machine if anyone wants a fill up before heading off. I'd imagine most people will probably start to peel off along the way, but it's there if needed.
For Google mappers, here is Stage 1 and Stage 2.
For those with satellites in their cars, the gpx files are below.

That sounds like a plan to me!
Thanks for your efforts Karl, see you Sunday.

How would it go down if I joined, but in my 'other' new car. Not an Ariel but interesting, 2 week old 720 spider? Is that a bit naff?
Just asking. That might also answer Tony's internal wondering about turning up in a Kermit green GT3 RS.
If nothing but Ariel are generally welcome then I'll bring my little beauty.

Yeah, why not!
I think we have a GTR turning up while their Atom 4 is being finalised, so why not others? I'd love a looksee around the 720 ;-)

I should be able to make it, heading up from Poole way so happy to meet up en route if anyone else is coming from that direction?
I’d love a look around the 720 Alan, so no objections from me.

Actually AlanP, I believe you owe me a passenger ride after the Nomad hoon in 2019
Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021 (?)
I reckon I'll be able to make it to the Caen Hill cafe stop
Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021 (?)
I'll like to join. Thinking of starting around 8 am to be at Start point for 9am start.
This will be my first meet up with the Ariel forum members.
Please advise on "must bring" items if any.
Thanks.

Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021 (?)
I’m in, but as Alan P said, it will be in the GT3RS, Atom is sadly in storage until I hopefully move house...... I can’t take the roof off, but I will undo the windows, turn the A/C on as cold as possible and try to keep frozen.
Should I wear a helmet, just so if I get lost they’ll know I’m with you loonies..?

The only thing I would really advise is some form of SatNav. We're pretty much guaranteed to get split up by traffic and mamils, so the more folk that can follow the route, the better chance we have of all arriving at the tea shop
Re: Season kick off run - 18th April 2021 (?)
Yeh, Karl likes a U turn every so often, very difficult to follow.....
