I'd imagine that owning an Atom in SA - especially around Cape Town - is seriously cool. You have some properly good roads out there, especially along the coast.

Well I don't know if it's legal in Spain (I hope so, but only been here 2 months!), but there is an official Spanish dealer for Atom's so maybe...

With having to move here from the UK, I won't be in a position to buy until we're settled here a little
Sorry I can't translate the page for you, it's my wife that's Spanish

No, there is a thread on here by someone else from Spain. I drove mine through Spain and was stopped only once.

Unless things have changed in the last two years, I don't think the Atom can be registered in Spain.

Re: In how many countries is the Atom 'road legal'?
Because of Friday's earthquake in Japan, do the Atoms there still exist? Or were they earthquaked or tsunami'ed away?
Of course, the main thing is that the owners are okay.

Re: In how many countries is the Atom 'road legal'?
You can forget Canada for now. There is a '2' here legally, but the original owner was a lawyer willing to take on Transport Canada. To get another here, you would have to assemble one from parts purchased from different vendors (with receipts) and register as a home built. Also, Transport Canada have a 'hate on' for the car, as they see it as circumventing their cherished regulations, so they may block you just to be bloody minded. Their lawyers are paid for by the tax payers, and they are not nice people. Also, blocking your car would probably justify the budgets of half a dozen departments and programs.

One of the possibilities which can be done within EU is to register a car in the country where Atom can be registered, like UK. This can be done. I was considering this option. In EU you can drive a car with other country's license plates legally.
