CarFest South 2015: 28th-30th August 2015, Laverstoke Park Farm

Post by Alex Brandon-Smith » Fri Nov 07, 2014 12:50 pm

Hi everyone,

I've lent myself to Tom to try and organise Carfest South for this year (please note I am not dealing with Carfest North). I am waiting for the organisers to come back to me but obviously need to get the ball rolling on the forum looking for interest.

It is a fantastic weekend, loads going on and those who have been have said how much they have enjoyed it. Typically you will have two tickets per car with a max of 7 cars for the weekend on display. We have always managed to get the tents pitched together which has been a lot of fun and the showers and facilities are at least reasonable!

In terms of timings, it's preferred that we try to get to the site for the Thursday afternoon/evening and then I've booked a local curry house for the last two years for the Thursday evening. Carfest starts midday on the Friday so there is space to get in early doors on Friday to set up your tent. Pack down is normally Monday morning although this year we packed down Sunday as the forecast was for bad weather but the organisers won't let you get out earlier than about 1830 on the Sunday.

Please put your name down if you are interested. Starting a list below. Any questions please ask.

Alex

I'll almost certainly be coming along, though as I live locally I'll not be staying over night.  So expect me to pop over to the display on at least one of the day.

Hi guys, the organisation continues now that I've had contact from CarFest. There is however a small issue that has arisen in terms of numbers.

CarFest are intending to get more clubs involved in the same area for display and consequently have restricted the numbers to just 5 cars per display going forward instead of seven. It's a bit frustrating but I can understand their reasoning. It does however pose problems for us given the people who have confirmed so I had a long chat with Tom as to how best to solve the numbers for this year. In future we shall ballot the places but for this year, Tom has suggested that we favour those who have supported us in the past for their loyalty to the event given (surprisingly) we've had problems getting numbers and support for it.

Therefore, we are going to suggest the following applicants are confirmed, with the extra two as reserve list:

Alex BS & Ginette
Julian (& Jane?)
Andrew300 & Mrs Sarah300
Paul, Hayley & Georgia
Peter (& mate)

Reserve list:
Moo
Tony & Jo

Could those confirmed above let us know if they still want their places as I'm sure Moo and Tony would dearly love to go if you're only 50/50 about coming.

The other news is that the prices have gone up too. Sorry folks. Cost for the five entries is £156 per car, plus the camping is now £150+VAT per pitch. I will look to allocate a pitch each (Paul obviously I appreciate you'll want a pitch on the other side for hook-ups etc) so we'll have four together for the rest. Tom has said the AAOC will subsidise us so the full cost will work out to £275 per car including camping as long as we fill the 5 car quota. Kiddies wristbands will cost a few quid extra, usually about £10+VAT to be confirmed.

If everyone is happy, just so the money is in the bank, could you pay the £275 via any of the following methods:

Bank transfer: A/c 36559024 Sort 60-06-24, Ariel Atom Owners Club Ltd, ref: surname & CarFest
PayPal: paypal@atomclub.com (mark as family and friends so the club aren't charged fees)
Cheque: Payable to Ariel Atom Owners Club sent to the factory

Let me know once transferred so we can look out for it. Any problems please let me know as soon as you can.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Jane and I are up for this. We are going to try and hire a camper type van. Would we still be in the same field as you? Not sure how it works. Assuming the standard curry on the Thursday.

Regards

Julian
