MP4-12c
Re: MP4-12c
Very cool configurator, very elegant, simple and fast.
Love the fact you can see Jenson's and Lewis' spec cars in detail. McLaren have really engaged the fans by allowing different insights into the team and drivers. I applaud them for that. Love the McLaren Race 1.0b director during the F1 races.
If only we knew the price.

Here's some more info
This is their supercar - there is an all out HyperCar on the way ....
Tests are currently at 600bhp on this car but focus is on >9500 rpm and >600bhp
Huge amount of time on suspension with a very smooth ride. No anti roll bars

The Hypercar will use a lot of novel technologies and is rather exciting. One of my colleagues has defected to McLaren and will be working on road car dynamics, lucky git!

Winding Road (yes, I know, but there are some nice pictures) visits the factory
http://magazine.windingroad.com/issue/57/
They waste a couple pages on hybrid drivetrain speculation that you can skip.
They mention the lack of antiroll bars (due to a computerized damping system).
They mention a company commitment to turbocharging.
They say one feature of the driving course offered with each car will be the opportunity for the factory tester to do final calibration on the mode settings (Normal, Sport, Track) specific to each built drivetrain and customer preference. One option (with a customer signed waiver) will be to turn the ESP computer nanny completely off, in track mode.
The last 2 paragraphs focus on marketing plans:
35 dealers in 19 countries.
5 models within five years (wonder how they're counting - I only ever heard 3 mentioned - an 'entry' model around $100K/£65K and the hyper-car in addition to the MP4-12C
1000 units per year projected for the MP4-12C, 4000 total per year of all models
1700 customers have registered 'intent to buy'
McClaren wants to keep delivery time under a year
Price: managing director Sheriff says "a little above or a little below the Ferrari 458."

It is Rowan Atkinson's, the worlds only famous electronic engineer.

Marconi? Tesla? (ok, maybe not electronic )
I'm pleased to see that Atkinson doesn't feel the need to slap a wing on.

Re: MP4-12c
Clearly fate is getting the upper hand here, just got an email from McLaren telling me the 'Manchester' dealer will be 500 yards from my house in Knutsford!
My wife's starting to get very worried now...

Re: MP4-12c
Still a pipe dream really. I think that although the initial contact point is Sytner in Knutsford, it looks like they'll have a dedicated showroom in Manc somewhere. So hopefully I won't have to look at one every time I wander into town....
Cheers, Ross.
