PS Anyone who won a prize please PM me with your address. I've got a prize to send out to you. They may not arrive in one piece, because for some reason this year Bruce decided to introduce glass to the framed photo!!!

Yours had glass AND a frame?
Mine was just stuck to some sort of polystyrene mounting board and arrived bent down the middle.

As Darth says, last year's were in frames, too.
Frankly, John - you could remove the frames for shipping and let people buy their own... Would save money that way - just make sure you use carded envelopes.

The Postman must have opened mine up and removed the frame so he could bend it to push it through the letterbox then.
Unless, of course, I didn't qualify for a frame as my entry was only "Commended" in the "Atomfest" category.

. . . . just make sure you use carded envelopes.

That could work better than the padded envelope that mine arrived in, especially if it's a very stiff card.
Can I also suggest that stickers saying 'Fragile' or 'Photographic Material' or 'Do Not Bend' might help on the outside as a warning for the ham-fisted posties to take more care.

When I had a summer job with UPS we assumed fragile = light so you could throw the parcel further up the lorry. Assume this will happen when packing anything fragile.

Re: 2008 Winners
Also, 'photos do not bend' is seen not so much as a caution, rather as a challenge
I think i changed from polyboard (technical term) to frames last year?

Re: 2008 Winners
Mine was posted to me last December on what looks like polyboard going by what I found after a quick search.
As it was in what would appear to the postman as a 'plain brown envelope', he probably thought it was a magazine of some sort and tried to fold it over so it would go through the letterbox.
It didn't because it got stuck halfway through.
