Post by benyeats » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:24 pm

Hello,

Thought the details were getting lost in the other thread so have started this new one.

My route down to Crewkerne will be as follows with the following stops (approx) please add your name next to the relevant rendez vouz point.

09:00  Cambourne (Cambridge)                      - BenYeats and FeistyColumbian / Honda Hamster
09:15  Madingley Road Park and Ride
10:00 Stanstead Services                                - Rob Evans
10:45 South Mimms                                      -
12:00 Fleet services M3 (Fuel + Ginsters stop)    -

For stops further along the way add to the list.

I guess our American visitors may wish to stop at Stonehenge but not sure

Ben

The belgian molecular convoy will be starting at 5AM from Luxemburg to Calais where we will take the 11am ferry...and from Dover to the factory in the afternoon. We should be there for tea time

Cool, you will be a bit late to join us on the M3, we are running early so Rob can collect his car.  Will make sure we meet for a beer in the evening

Given the reaction when I mentioned it at lunch, I am pretty sure they will want to...

You will be disappointed, then.

These days you can't get within 100ft of the stones. In my day you could clamber all over them!

Here's a claim that it was never finished (ie. that the missing stones aren't all due to the site being quarried by later people, but that many of the "missing" stones were never there.)

The first story headline is apparently due to shoddy editorial work - there are obviously Preseli Hills bluestones at Stonehenge. The story just suggests that it is more likely that the stones were glacial erratics rather than transported hundreds of miles by prehistoric humans.

Its OK I have climbed on some stones elsewhere and don't necessarily need to repeat the experience.

Did you fall off and draw blood then, though, Ben?

Was it 'Extreme'?

That was concrete banking rather than rock per-se.  I am fairly sure that will be a pera-scar.
