Coolant leak

Post by jpswift » Sun Dec 14, 2014 6:31 pm

Spotted this on garage floor

Last out a couple of weeks ago, though not freezing

Never seen before (after nearly 6 years) anyone had similar ?

Anything that may need tightening ?

Cheers

Justin

Seen a few posts on here suggesting the pipes expand/contract and can weep. A quick tighten of the jubilee clips seems to have sorted it in all cases.

This was a fairly common problem a few years ago .. quite a bit was written here about it ..

Heres a typical reference :-

The factory sourced some wider jubilee clips that do a better job ..

Yeah back in 2009 I had all my coolant let go on the garage floor ! As per that link it was a case of needing slightly better clips - never a problem again.

Yup happened to mine in freezing Cyprus ;D, running down on to the gearbox.
Quick tighten of the clips and all sorted.

I drove coast to coast through the northern US states at the end of October and had the same. When the nighttime temperature fell to 5-7C, I would see a small leak underneath the car. Topping off with a bit of (winter?) coolant made it stop. Tightening the clips is a good idea too - need to try that.
