Power Loss during VTEC transition

Post by redalps » Fri Feb 12, 2021 9:19 pm

Hi,

im about to buy an 2005 atom 2 220 and while checking all the documents i got a dyno chart which looks really strange to me.
looks like there is a significant power loss during vtec transition.
i didnt get the chance to verifiy it on the road; winter, snow and so on....
do you guys have any idea whats the problem here?

Looks a bit strange.
From my experience at original (Honda) setup the power increase is quite flat before the VTEC, but its not like the power would really go down.
Also the max torque should be at about 200Nm(+).

This is definitely not how it should look. If they did not release the pedal, than it is broken😬

This is a Dyno graph with original Honda setup.
It is taken from a K20A2, not a K20A like in the Atom, but should look almost the same.
(So I was not 100% correct with my last reply.)

I remember, that at least the supercharged Atom 2 275 had an MBE ECU, which setup was not the best.
I do not know about the 220, but it might be a reason.

For sure Ariel will be happy to help if you give them a call.
