Wheel Sizes - Technical Detail

Post by woodsypedia » Sat May 24, 2014 12:47 pm

Hey Folks,

I'm looking to buy some new wheels for the Atom 3. I've currently got 15inch team dynamics on there. I've found a few on ebay that I like, but just wanted to know if someone could provide any technical detail that I might need. Example, are there specifics things I should look out for or will these fit?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Team-dynamics-pro-race-1-2-16-4x100-alloy-wheel-/251538710904?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item3a90e02178

Thanks in advance

Best Wishes,

Chris.

Isn't that just 1 wheel?

The important parameter is the offset of that wheel.
Distance from centre drilled mounting plate to wheel rim.

Some wheels have positive offset, some negative.

That part no of the Team Dynamics wheel on eBay was 5K2-670454100

That's a 7" x 16", 4 x 100 PCD, ET 45  - That's offset 45

The wheels Stuart has from the factory show offset 35, so the 45 wheel would mount much further into the hub and probably wouldn't clear the the brake calipers etc without using a wheel spacer.

I suspect that the Atom Team Dynamics wheels are a special order as the part no in Stuart's photos doesn't fit anything in the standard catalogue?

There's a really easy to follow read on the Demon Tweaks site that explains all and well wortha browse :-

Also a good website for comparing wheels/tyres/offsets etc. Tells you exactly what will happen to the wheel, tyre, clearances etc when you put in the specifics. Worth playing around with.

Thanks all. Great detail. I really like the 16inch look. Could be on the cards after LeMans.

...so the standard wheels mounted on a UK Atom 2:

Front:
7,0x15"
ET35mm
PCD: 95,25mm

Back:
8,0x16"
ET: 38mm
PCD: 95,25

I raided several wheel topics but i'm still not quite sure which Center Bore / Hub Bore is being used on the UK Atoms (2)

56,6mm
or
56,1mm

Maybe someone can help me with this information.
Thanks in advance!
