Dads Day Out Sunday 16th May 2010 - Ride in a Supercar at Dunsfold

Post by Harsh » Thu Jan 28, 2010 12:22 am

Save the date; Sunday May 16th 2010

This is the second year of our Charity ‘ride in a supercar’ event at Dunsfold Aerodrome (the Home of BBC’s top gear)

We at Petrolhead Nirvana are working alongside Club Scuderia to raise money for The Children’s Trust charity.
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/  Which provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury

The format is simple;

We’ve got 80-100 supercars of various descriptions from Atoms to Zondas giving up their time, fuel and tyres.
The public pay £20 in exchange for 2 high speed passenger laps of the oval configuration (cant do the figure of 8 as we will have 12 cars out at once which could be interesting at the crossover!) in a standard Ferrari or Lamborghini or up to £60 for blue riband cars such the Ferrari Enzo.
Add in a number of carefully selected car clubs to display their cars (at a reduced entry rate of £7 per car instead of £7 per person)

Further add in more things to do for adults and kids;
Driver training circuit
Helicopter rides
Live bands
A myriad of stands and stalls
Bouncy castles
Fairground rides
Fire engine and Double decker bus rides
Roary the racing car
Static plane displays
Great food.

We’re adding more features to this event all the time.

The general entry prices for the event are;
Adults £7
Children £3
Family tickets £15
Standard supercar rides £20
Blue Ribband rides £40-£60

As I already mentioned car clubs pay £7 per car rather than per person
Every penny goes to the charity.

A quick video of some of the highlights from last year

(and yes feel free to make fun of me getting it wrong at Gambon!)
We had around 4,000 people at the event last year and this year we’re aiming for double that

Obviously the more people we get to come along to the event the more fun everyone will have and the more money we can raise for The Children’s Trust. So spreading the word about the event would be very helpful indeed.
All of us at Petrolhead Nirvana are giving our time and efforts for free and my company is also paying for the event liability insurance as well as covering design costs for any media – so as you can see this is in no way a commercial event.

I’m also in charge of organising the car club static displays and would love to have some Atoms along.
I’ll need an idea of numbers a month or so prior to the event and I’m happy to coordinate the group, and organise details unless someone else wants to take the strain for me ;)

Officially the list of drivers is closed (as priority went to those who drove with us last year), however If anything changes I've no doubt I could entice one or two more onto the track.

So If you're interested please put your name down below.

Yeh, it confuses me too why people buy Atoms, obviously not to drive them!

I'll drive for you Harsh, if you get a gap. Always happy to run guest rides.
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

Please can I clarify this -
I will pay £7 to display Nemo (still trying this name out).
Other patrons pay for 2 highspeed passenger laps with me at the wheel - this is the bit I'm unsure of
Liability is covered
All of the proceeds go to charity
If the answer is yes to all the above - I'm in.

sorry about the late replies chaps, been a little snowed under.

Ok...the driving places are currently full....
i've a waiting list in case there are drop outs, which i'm happy to add names to.

The static display is another area of the show, we're expecting around 1000 cars for that area from a large number of car clubs.
Thats the bit i'm asking if the AAOC want to join and display.

the upside of that is you get early entry to the event, reduced entry fee (£7 per car as opposed to £7 perperson) and parking nearer to where everything is happening.

We've added to the list of attractions since i first posted , we now have 3 live bands playing, and possibly more to come
more stands, stalls and in addition to the driver training area run by roadcraft we have a hooning/honing area too being run by the Caterham owners club.

hope that clears up any questions

I must have missed this thread!

Harsh - if you get any drop outs and need any more drivers let me know.  I caught up with you briefly at SB events last yr and am already signed upto another 3 this yr.... another one won't be an issue.

Can i have a list of those who want to be in the static display? 9seperate to those driving?

For those who have already said yes, Ii assume you've all bought your display tickets already?

If you're thinking of booking rides please do it soon as the event has now been launched on Pistonheads and will be in the press over the next few weeks so rides are likely to be selling out quickly (we've sold over 40% of them already)

we're adding more events and interesting stuff all the time so keep checking back to see what we're doing!

I suspect that's because most Atom owners are more into driving. I'd much rather drive than 'show'.

Seeing as I got turned down last year, despite being a Club Scuderia member, I'm not that bothered this year.
