Wings and Wheels over Waikato 7th to 9th March 2008

Local members of AAOC are welcome to participate, along with other car clubs, at this event.
The organisers need to know just how many cars will be attending in order to allocate good space and to keep us all together!

Event infomation is available at www.airshow.co.nz

Here is a little information applicable to Atoms:

All exhibiting vehicles must arrive before 09.00 AM and may not leave until after 4.00 PM daily.
This is a static display. Vehicles may not be moved between the hours of 9.00AM and 4.00 PM.
Vehicles may be left overnight, if you wish, as this is a Civil Aviation Security area and guards will be patrolling. Nobody will be permitted in the area after 6.00 PM and before 7.00 AM.

All vehicles will be in the open and the organisers will do their best to ensure you have an excellent view of the flying display from your cars.
The public will be circulating and getting up close and personal, and your vehicle is in your care! Plenty of electric fence standards and baling twine will be made available and along with assistance to rope off the displayed vehicles.

Pre-booking is essential.  Free admission (Green Passes) will be issued to two people per vehicle.
In addition to the free admission, each vehicle booking for and attending both the Saturday and Sunday will receive a $25.00 petrol voucher.

Probably will need an umbrella or so to keep us out of the sun.
And keep the beer cold.

Well this looks like it may be a non event, according to tonights news. The council only got application for a consent to hold event and are claiming there is not enough time. Some of the sponsors, and media, are looking for the organiser, who can not be contacted.

Oh well, I might as well take my time to get my tank right then take another road trip.

Edit = addition of link to news article.

Email confirmation received today....

----quote----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Exhibitor

I am sorry to confirm that Wings and Wheels over Waikato has been postponed. Regrettably the naysayers have temporarily won the day.

We fully intend putting on an air show and intend honouring all tickets sold; however for the moment we must re-group and re-think options.

We will notify you when we have established a workable plan and determined a sensible date and venue.
In the meanwhile we request your patience and your understanding.

If you do not want us to keep your name in  our data base and do not want further updates from us, please reply to this message with the word â??Removeâ? in the subject box.

Thank you for your interest and offer of participation.

Kind regards,

John Pringle

As exhibitors we were invited free of charge. Hopefully the promoters can pull this off, in the not too distant future, for the sake of all those that did fork out money for sponsorship and tickets.
