Re: Normandy Landings, 16-19 September 2016
We are four.
Me, Julian, Nick, and yourself, Paul.
I haven't done any route planning yet (not that it'll be rigidly applied) but I will get round to it soon.

Julian
My wife and I sailed the ports of this part of France for years so I asked in a couple of sailing forums - that I still belong to - if anybody had any recommendations as to the best restaurants in Arromanches-les-Bains.
This is what I got back from a British expat living close by who keeps his boat in Grande-Camp just down the coast to the west :
1. Les P'tites Assiettes 4* - only disadvantage is that it is not on the sea front but in the town centre - but apparently offers the best food!
2. Brasserie en Face 4* - Pretty good simple food - not quite on the front but close to it (no website)
3. Hotel de la Marine 3.5* - best position on sea front and food consistently pretty good!
That said - these restaurants are recommended by someone I have never met so - CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Brasserie d'en face features No2 on tripadvisor, I appreciate you are not a fan but coupled with your recommendation it sounds good to me but I will go with the flow.

You can't reach the service window at the drive-thru, in an Atom.
(Thank god).

Sir Nick
If you want a McDonald's Happy Meal I suggest you buy it in Le Havre when you leave the ferry on Friday morning as that is the closest one to Arromanches-les-Bains!
Might be a bit cold and greasy by dinner time 'tho!
Julian - I don't really have any preferences as to where we have dinner as the group will inevitably gravitate to a consensus as hunger increases!
I am just sitting idly at my computer passing time looking at what's available in terms of 'fine dining' in Arromanches (in an air conditioned room as it is 37C outside at the moment)
- I simply assumed that Sir Nick (being aristocracy and before his McDonalds post) would insist on at least a Michelin 2 star dining establishment with a fine wine cellar to boot!

Can we not all be Nick?

Luckily there is no lady amongst us as she would surely have to be known as N*****less!!
Think might I might have to be 'Nic' - being based in Cyprus (Nic....osia!!)
By the way is this true? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Nick (scroll to the bottom!)

Fellas,
Just back in country so unable to clear more time away! As the Pompey Atom owner, can i ask where you intend meeting up before your ferries? It'd be great catching up again.
All the best, Mark

Hi, Durky
We haven't settled a place for dinner yet, but as soon as we do I'll let you know, on here or by mobile. Our ferry out is another late one.

Re: Normandy Landings, 16-19 September 2016
Unfortunately I have to pull out of this one. I have briefed Steve so he can fill in Nick and Paul. I am very pissed off as was really looking forward and weather looks great.
Needless to say there is a return crossing available costing me £277, large outside 2/4 ensuite cabin both ways.
3 nights double room £144.66, all three nights.
Anyone interested before I cancel direct.
I will take £300 the lot. Cheap.
PM your details so we can liaise if you are interested.
Thanks
Julian

Really sad you can't make it Julian. Won't be the same without you.
PS - can I have your return cabin? Then I won't have to put up with Gibson
