For info:

Important Hammersmith flyover update

The Hammersmith flyover resurfacing and waterproofing work is ahead of schedule as a result of our contractors making very good progress. Therefore the closure this weekend will not all be eastbound, as previously planned.

The flyover will be closed eastbound towards central London from 22:30 on Friday until late Saturday night, when it will reopen. The westbound carriageway will then be closed until 05:00 Monday morning. After this weekend, all closures will be westbound. Buses in the area may also face some delays.

During recent weekends, there has been significant congestion through Hammersmith and neighbouring parts of west London. Drivers who would ordinarily use the flyover are advised to follow the signed diversions for the routes below:
• During the eastbound closure via the A40 Western Avenue from Chiswick Roundabout
• During the westbound closure via the A40 Western Avenue via the A3220 Warwick Road

For more information on the Hammersmith flyover closures, please click here

Roads

Road users may be affected by the following this weekend:

Hammersmith – From 22:30 on Friday, the Hammersmith flyover will be closed eastbound towards central London until late Saturday night, when it will reopen. The westbound carriageway will then be closed until 05:00 Monday morning. After this weekend, all closures will be westbound. For more information on these weekend closures, please click here

City of London – From 08:00 on Saturday until 18:00 on Sunday 30 November, Minories will be closed at the junctions with Portsoken Street, Crosswall and Goodman's Yard. Road diversions will be in place and the remainder of Minories and Portsoken Street will temporarily run two-way traffic. This is due to gas works being carried out on behalf of the National Grid.

Clapham Common – On Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 until 23:30, roads around Clapham Common may be busier than usual, due to a music festival taking place.

Central London – From 09:00 until 19:30 on Saturday, roads closures will be in place. This is to allow for a parade from Baker Street to Whitehall Place, near Embankment, via Oxford Street, Regent Street, Lower Regent Street and Whitehall, followed by a festival in Trafalgar Square.

Yup - also had an email this morning from TFL to say that the Hammersmith Flyover has completed early so it won't be closed.

Few things from me.

1) Go Pro's - could everyone who's bringing one, please set up as 720p or 1080p with a 25FPS frame rate. Also disable any auto white balance or correction option. This should mean we get good video quality continuity in case everyone wants another video :)

2) We got some great footage from the camera on Bruce's car (rear facing) - so if anyone else fancies mixing it up a little with go pro positions - that would be cool.

3) We should maybe break down into two (or three) smaller subset groups, where people follow those with sat nav's. This should mean if we get separated, it's easy to regroup using the break points. Perhaps also stop in Hyde Park or outside Buckingham Palace for a little while and stretch legs? Would make some great photo opportunities too.

Looking forward to it - hope it stays dry!

P.S - I'm still stickered up from LeMans :)

Cheers

Chris

Think we're aiming for a 6:30am meet with a 7am off. Heston Services Eastbound on the M4.

Those with sat navs - please bring them :) The route is available in ITN format here if you need it. Thanks to Adrian for it's initial production.

My satnav is in my phone, and doesn't do .itn files... Any chance of a list of the route of some kind that I could print off?

Today is non stop rain here in West Sussex. Doesn't look like it's any better in London either. As much as I don't enjoy saying this, do we think the roads will have dried out enough tomorrow? Should we look to another date? This will be no fun if everything is soaking wet.

Thoughts?

Folks,

I've sadly got to pull out of tomorrow - have a family issue I need to tend to.

If you all make it - hope the weather is kind.

Looking forward to the next one.

Cheers

Chris.

The Metcheck weather forecast for London looks good at the moment.

I'm still up to go!

Anybody else?

I shall be joining you, but I suspect that I'll be waiting around the Natural History Museum and expect to be joining you all  for about 7:30 or so...
