The long awaited East Anglia / Dad's Army Hoon 18th - 19th AUG

Post by benyeats » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:37 pm

Only 3 years after having the initial conversation about the idea the time has come to put the plan into action and arrange an event based around East Anglian owners.

Day 1 is where the Dad's Army based activity comes in.  I am quite a fan of the show and know quite a lot of it was filmed around Thetford Forest.  I will arrange some sort of themed driving for this day.

Day 1 will finish in a suitable hotel with attached Bar / Spa type thing for the ladies.

Day 2 will be more hooning and Sunday lunch based.  There are loads of good, if somewhat flat, roads around East Anglia that need Atomizing.

So this post is more with the purpose of keeping a date free, details will follow.

Sign up below if interested.

Off work on those dates, so unless the family want me, I'm up for this.

Rob.

Hi Ben,

I have put this in my diary but it clashes with the time Jane has taken off for family holiday although nothing booked yet.
So providing nothing comes up then I am in.

Reporting for duty, Sah!
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

Will this be in fancy dress?

In which case, there are a number of highly libelous suggestions I am unwilling to make...

I bags Sergeant Wilson...

And shouldn't the food include a generous portion of powdered egg and something that Corporal Jones can slip around the back for you...

Not long to go now, but as a wise man once said 'don't panic' here are some more details.

A few more details for this one.  Actually one more detail, I have booked Clare and I into this hotel:

http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?tab=c..0oxtl6uEjo5vz5Z-VQJp4w..&hotelId=c..OdHhEgPAvEM.

Book using the code 'HSUMMER10' and it will give you 10% off the rate.

I chose this one as it has a pool / spa for the girls and a bar.  Also a good location for parking Atoms out of the way a bit!

Based on the weather so far this summer we are statistically due a scorching hot August so this will be a good one....

Interestingly Goldtrack are at Snetterton 300 on Friday 17 August - I would have been up for joining you after doing Snetters but I'm in Atlanta on business that week

That is a good idea, I will investigate this nearer the time (leave days are at a premium this year)

Just giving this thread a bit of a bump.

The Dad's Army themed drive is coming along somewhat slowly and seems mainly to focus on downtown Thetford, so I will use some artistic license to get a few more miles in.
