Hi all, an update. Firstly let me apologise for misleading some of you who thought this was from Winchester. It is not. I was suggesting we do another run somewhere in the South like the Winchester run last summer.

This is one will be in Oxfordshire for owners all over the South, but also, I was thinking, and I should have thought of this earlier, aren't there any owners in the Midlands (or further north) who would like to drive down on their favourite roads and meet us for us for lunch at C&M??? (see below) If so please let us know.

Ian (irg100) has produced a route covering 43 miles of great roads in Oxfordshire. Kicking off at the PearTree (Welcome Break) services just north of Oxford on the A34, Then driving north west to Caffeine & Machine. Bod is contacting them to book us in, so we need to confirm numbers soon.

Since we are all coming from different directions there won't be a breakfast meet with all of us like last time, rather a mid morning meet at PearTree services (see below). I have worked out a route for myself and anyone who wants to meet up from further South to drive to PearTree. I have added 2 meeting points in Basingstoke and Newbury, based on who might be coming Other meeting points can be added if required. I will load this as well as Ians main route on the MyRoute-App Ariel Club group shortly for your SatNav downloads. Or you can follow the car in front.

Suggest the following times (including the Southern chapter people)

TIME...MTG POINT....WHERE
0900...Basingstoke...A339 Just north of Basingstoke. If anyone wants to meet me here I will send Map.
0930...Newbury.......Waitrose Carpark RG14 1NB. Then drive up to meet others at PearTree via Wantage and other backroads.(36 miles)
1030...Oxford.........Pear Tree Services OX2 8JZ. Then drive on main route to Caffeine & Machine (43 miles) <<< START POINT
1200...Ettington......Caffeine& Machine CV37 7NS. Lunch <<< END POINT

All of us will be on the main route of Oxford to C&M. Please Confirm soonest who is on this run so Bod can book C&M. Also anyone who wants to join me at the Basingstoke or Newbury meeting points above then please let me know. I will publish full route next in next couple of days. Those getting to PearTree from other directions can setup their own meeting points if required.

List of names please...

LATEST UPDATE - PLEASE NOTE MEETING TIMES HAVE CHANGED

As we cannot reserve a table on Sundays for Caffeine & Machine, we are aiming to be there an hour earlier. As to parking there is a £10 prebooking for Sundays which is a bit much, and £5 if you turn up first come first serve. So we plan to just turn up and pay £5. You get a "free gift or drink" included in that. It might seem excessive to charge that at a pub car park, but it is a very popular place so they trying to control traffic. We may not have to pay as sometimes it isn't charged. If we cannot get in there, then Ian has identified another nice looking pub with plenty of parking, as a backup plan.

Meeting points

TIME......MTG POINT.........DETAILS

0800......Basingstoke........A339 Lay-by about 2 miles north of the town here---> https://goo.gl/maps/rUDHpyPhwXU2
0830......Newbury............Waitrose car park RG14 1NB. Then drive 35 miles to meet main group at Oxford
0930......Oxford..............PearTree Services OX2 8JZ on A34 just north of Oxford. Drive 44 Miles to C&M <<<< START POINT
1100......Ettington...........Caffeine & Machine CV37 7NS. Lunch <<<< END POINT

Routes

The Routes for Sat Nav downloads are on the Ariel Club Tours here ----> https://www.myrouteapp.com/group/routes ... etime/desc
Or you can follow one of the others. If you don't have access to the site you need to register first, its free, then request access to Ariel Club Tours group. I will add you. there are two routes in there;

1. Newbury to PearTree Services (for Southern contingent). Here is the google map ---> https://goo.gl/maps/Zo1QPne6yy22
Tried to avoid much of the A34 travelling on some better roads via Wantage

2. PearTree to Caffeine & Machine (Main route of the day). Here is the google map ---> https://goo.gl/maps/fGfxpza432z

After that we all head home. I may look at options for interesting roads back south or we can just take trunk routes home.

As C&M seems to be a very popular venue, some of us have decided to prebook (£10) parking on the 7th. If you want to as well, then the link is below, otherwise you can take a chance and pay the £5 at the gate when you arrive.

We will also leave Pear Tree as soon after 0930 as possible

I’ve booked the parking.
Fingers crossed for dry weather, and perhaps a little sun.
