Forum restructure and a bit of housekeeping

Post by Karl V » Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:00 am

Evening all, and Happy New Lockdown!

Just a quick message from your loyal Admins, here to serve your ever whim...

We will soon be finalising a few changes to the forum structure that we hope will benefit everyone. From now on all logged in users will also have access to the Tech and Event sub-forums, whether you are paying Club Members or not.

But... the forum as a whole will be restricted to Guests, Bots and casual passer bys who can't be arsed to either log in or register.

We explained the rationale for this change in the Clubroom (Full Club Members only) and received positive feedback as to the whys and hows.

TL;DR: We want to expose more of the forum topics to registered users, but at the same time, lock down what non-registered-users see (which includes Bots, Spiders, nosey people, and your Partner trying to figure out where you go every Saturday morning for 4 hours). You are welcome...

It's your Club. Let us know if you disagree...

Quick update...

The proposed forum access changes are now in place.

If you are reading this, you now have access to the Tech and Events sub-forums. If these are new to you, please check them out and feel free to add to the conversation.

If you are not reading this, then you are a bot or a not logged in. And if this is the case, you are not reading this. Mind F*ck...

Regardless, big shout out to phil4 for his work this morning in upgrading our forum and website to the latest versions.

Something something security update; something bug fix; something usability enhancement. We're lucky to have a Phil in our lives people! Thanks Phil...

So here we are. We have opened up more access to the forum without requiring a Membership. But your membership subs of only £30 a year (8p a day) help us to make these dreams come true.

Looking forward to - hopefully - a new year where we can meet up and enjoy our cars.

In the meantime, there is off the wall banter too to get us through this tough time.

We're glad you are here!
