If you went East from Thruxton on the A303 to pick up the A34 junction North to Oxford then you went by far the slowest way as going that way is getting on for almost 20 miles further than the route I suggested!

If we had left Thruxton at the same time and driving at my usual 'Atom progress rate' on the route I suggested I would have joined the A34 at the Newbury West (Andover road) A34 junction at least 12 or 13 miles before you would have got there and would have been at the hotel (and in the bar) well before you!!

Sigh!! :roflp: :P ;D
