Ariel outwits Google

Post by AlanP » Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:07 am

Android users, open Maps on a PC, make sure you're logged in with you Gmail or Googlemail account, go to menu and timeline. You can now pick any day since forever and see exactly where you were from when to when. This can be turned off of course.

It also tells you when and how you were travelling - walking, driving, on the bus, flying etc.

Google's clever and sophisticated algorithm reckons it can distinguish skiing from snowboarding, so clever eh?

However, when I look at a trip I've made in the Atom, like the journey to C&M, it tells me the precise route, BUT apparently I did it motorcycling!

So, Ariel have built a car that fools Google's jolly clever people into believing it is a motorcycle.

Ariel 1
Google 0

I thought I'd share as it amuses me.

I suspect it may be the speed of your journeys that makes it think you were on a bike... ;)
