A303 and detectors

Post by AlanP » Sat Dec 08, 2018 9:23 pm

8 years without a ticket and the bloody A303 gets me again. SP30 and £100 fixed penalty from a mobile camera 491 metres away. I've programmed a route to Crewkerne avoiding the A303 completely, adding 15 miles and 1/2 an hour, I'll report back.

Does anybody have any experience of a laser detector and/or other device that will work in an Atom? Considerations are, of course, open air, won't hear any audible warnings, mounting etc.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi
just a suggestion, put your wife in your car. They seem to know everything about the Highway code and you can generally hear them over any amount of background noise!
Helpfully yours ,
Dunny. :)

We need cruise control fitted on these cars, as ludicrous as it sounds. Would save an awful lot of points.

Cheers,

Were you in your Atom?

I didn’t think there was much on the front of an Atom to reflect a laser except for the number plate, if you have one?

I got done on the A303 this summer - i have been up and down that road for 12 years and never an issue - then this summer a laser from a bridge on the opposite side of the road so not visible from the direction i was travelling. Near Sparkford fyg. 81 mph - 1st pic is focused on a flower in central reservation but 2nd one got my rear reflector on left rear fender !!

So careful guys - they are impossible to see and i dont see a laser detector working as they get you from behind.
