Ade, we need to team together here else we are going to be going after the same cars & bidding each other up! haha.
We want the same thing it seems, a SC 3.5.

Good shout on posting in the FB group, I'll try it now.
Do you want the top half of the country or the bottom? ;D

Yeah the guy who's selling me his 3.5 has a 4 now. He described it as better in every way and faster than the 3.5. Then he went on to describe it as like driving a "saloon car"!

Make of that what you will.

Maybe the 3.5 will become a classic. The last of the pure supercharged madness before the more refined turbos came along.....

The factory sell cars on behalf of customers. You can call them and see what they might have coming in. They'll only sell cars that are absolutely perfect. You can also get upgrades done for the original fitment cost such as if a NA245 came in you could do the SC upgrade on it for £5k.

It is, with a good spec, but no mention of any service history.

Indeed, it is a bit light on detail but I'm sure a bit of digging would elucidate the matter.

Did he mention the history?

£45k looks to be in the ballpark for the spec (high) and mileage (low) although it's probably been used on track a lot - hence the extra wheels.

Every Atom is totally individual so prices are hard to compare but if this one has a good history it's worth a look.

No I didn't ask tbh, whoops!
Can you quickly explain for a newbie the servicing records I should be looking for?
I have owned several cars with the engine in, thought they were pretty bullet proof?
The reason I'm looking to get into an Atom is because my friends are getting Radicals for track, and instead of doing that as well, I want something I can use on road too, but 45k for a toy is a fair bit..! (he said he'd take44) but I've left my 40 on the table for if he doesn't get what he wants..

I would say £45k for a car of that spec is a fair price. It is very similar to my old 3.5 which I sold for £47k.

It's not as so much the engine as the rest of the car that need to be checked at least annually/every 4.5k miles, especially if they have seen the track.

There is no service book as such, so you will need to see the invoices.

Atoms are well built and very reliable, but like any car capable of 60 in under 3 seconds and 100 in under 7, they need to be well maintained by someone who knows all their quirks.

Unless you really know Atoms, I would strongly recommend only buying an Atom with a full factory service history. That way you know it has been well looked after and won't give you any nasty bills because of poor maintenance. It will also hold its value better and be far easier to sell. The factory will also be able to give you a good idea of the car and probably more importantly the attitude of the previous owner.

I believe Radicals can be far higher maintenance...

Mine will be up for sale later this year. Probably autumn. I pulled the add last year as I decided to keep it another year.
