Two bucks a liter!

Post by Bruce Fielding » Fri Sep 09, 2005 5:08 pm

That's what we're now paying for gas in the UK - filled up the Atom with 97ron this morning at £1.04 a litre

And now I hear some states are suspending fuel tax at $3 a gallon!

You don't know you're born, in the USA...

That's $6.68 a gallon here.

WOW we only pay 3.50$ for a gallon for 93 octane and we think thats high.
That would be the equiv to 0.54£ a litre

I live in Richmond, Va, US...and gas has been dipping down in the $2.89/gal range for 93 octane this past week, but with the new hurricane hitting Texas any minute now, I'm sure they will jack them back up again.

I know this is less than what you guys pay in Europe, but I believe I read somewhere that a lot of US taxpayers money goes to defraying the cost of gas at the pump.  So we are paying a lot for gas, just not directly at the pump.

I've paid up to 1.30 AUD/litre for 98 octane recently. Not as bad aas the UK.

Out here in AU, fuel is heavily taxed - supposedly to pay for our roads etc... it think its something like 45% tax, or more.

Up on the minesite the local council turns a blind eye during rain - normally the roads would close to all traffic, but we still run 400-tonne 3-trailer road trains to get our concentrate out on time. They rip up the road pretty quick! We run a grader out there on many days, as the road is unsealed for 35km and consequently takes a pounding from that kind of traffic.

Wow - where do you fill up Bruce? At a rural garage round here I saw Optimax at 1.01 and thought that was expensive.

This was Central London back in September when the prices rocketed. It's settled down a bit now, but you can still pay up to £1.02 a litre for Optimax

92 octane is up to between $3.29 and $3.41/gallon here now, depending on what part of town you're in.  Regular (87 octane) is $3.09 to $3.21/gallon.

I know most of Europe has it much worse, but it's frustrating when you knoe that it could be 50% less and the oil companies would still make outrageous profits.  >:(

US owners might be interested to learn that in the UK 95RON is regular, and 97/98RON is super. I was wondering why my retal 'stang was so slow! ;D
