Best wishes Pascal. I am sure like many others, your accident has definitely caused me to stop and think, in particular about the safety of passengers. I took my young nephew out for a drive just the other day and would never forgive myself if something bad happened to him whilst in my care.

I have had a stuck accelerator cable in the Atom and whilst scary you can just put your foot on the clutch. Maybe in Pascal's case, everything happened to quickly to react.

I hope you recover soon dude.
I feel your pain as i have also been layed up in bed before i snapped my ACL in my knee twice and was hopping around for 3 months. And had 6 months of rehab. Keep positive everything will work out in the end.

All the best

Best wishes for yr recovery Pascal. Seems you have a very positive attitude which is great. As Richard says just dipping the clutch would usually help enough but if it happens too quickly there may be no time to react. Also he says he couldnt get it out of gear - does that mean the clutch didnt react ? Anyway sounds terrible and lets just hope everybody recovers completely.

Hope you have a speedy and full recovery. Those of us who have experienced stuck throttles can testify it is often only luck that gets you through, ( mine was in a single seater just as i lifted for Gerrards at Mallory park. All kinds of buut clenching occured!)
You took a brave and apparently smart choice in how to crash. :tu:
Good luck!

Best wishes Pascal, on a full recovery.

If it's just broken bones, no matter how bad, with the right specialist they can be repaired.

If you had seen what was left of my left wrist after my motorcycle accident (it just looked like gravel in between my hand and and my arm) then you'd be amazed that they not only put it back together but I have virtually full use of it.

Keep positive and I'm sure that if there's anything any of us can do for you, then you only have to ask.

Wow, I certainly hope that you and your passenger both have speedy recoveries and no lasting effects.    A stuck throttle can be a real beasty when it happens at the wrong time (especially when you aren't given any time to react).

So sorry to hear of your unfortunate accident but I am very relieved that you and your passenger are relatively  OK. The crash looked horrific and I'm sure it was all a blur at the time.  I've had way too many surgeries on my knees and spent lots of time laid up healing so I can sympathise with your plight. Get a great surgeon, lots & lots of DVDs and good books and enjoy it as much as you can. Let us know how you're doing and all the very best for a swift recovery.

Courage and a good outlook! Fortunate to be alive, i know the feeling!

Maybe this will spark the idea for some Ariel Atom bionic legs... >>> ok, sorry...

Amazing the decision to crash frontal... And why dont we always think of the clutch first when this happens?

I am now very sad to see that journalism professionals covering this story are actually professionals full of bullcrap just pushing yet another bogus agenda against what they dont know...

Did the same incident (engine going berserk) happen to any Atoms before ?
