Nearly 900 miles down...

Post by Trigger » Wed Jul 11, 2018 10:08 pm

And what a fantastic time it has been. The skid handbrake is totally pointless yet oh so worth it !

Had the car at Bedford on Monday and it was superb fun - reportedly I had the biggest grin possible when returning from my first session.

The car does like to slide and it’s just all about controlling the weight transfer. Once the chassis is loaded and stable it does grip well. It’s so much more progressive though than Atoms. Brakes were awesome - I have Alcons. I dialled my Bilstein suspension right up to 10 on all dials - was I meant to ?

One thing though - the Bedford straight is very long and the car was topping out at 117-118mph - pretty slow - all I can suggest is there was a strong head wind and it has lights....what speed has anybody else seen ?

Ace pics, btw. Looks fab.

Bedford, being the longest circuit in the UK, is probably the Nomads least friendly circuit.

Conversely I’d have thought somewhere like Brands, Cadwell or Knockhill would be “ideal”.

Yes supercharged - there was no lack of power as acceleration was faster than most others - it was just hitting a wall it seemed.

I was on 18 inch wheels with AT tyres,

Although Bedford isnt a great circuit for the car overall the beauty is you cant hit anything - so it was great to test the adhesion limits with no fears. After Atom driving where i found sliding the car terrifying, this was a revelation !

Spot on, cool...

Tbh, it’s never gonna be a track tool, as such eh.

Not a trackday tool in the same way as an Atom - but then again I always felt a pressure to the fastest guy on track as it was essentially the fastest car most days ! No such fears in the Nomad and everybody was just envious of the fun we had !

Going to Goodwood for a charity trackday in a couple of weeks - should be a laugh and bet i get more requests for pax rides than any other supercar !!

We did a Donnington day in ours & it was so much fun, by the end we were purposely sliding it in every bend as it was a noise day.
Think you would get black flagged at most places :checkeredflag:
Here is a little vid from my phone , I know it’s not allowed

AT tyres are certainly going to be slippery slidey on track! Henry showed me some recently-arrived track day specific tyres he was eulogising about the other day. They weren’t cheap but he was frothing at the mouth about how good they were, pretty much. I’ll find out more.

This will start to increase the more miles you put on the car. Ive seen 126 out of normally aspirated demo... its got around 20,000 on the clock so is well run in!

Thats also winding it right round to 7,200rpm... in 4th and 5th.
