Welsh Weekend - Oct 10-14 2019 - End of Season Hoon

Post by GraemeW » Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:58 am

Anyone interested in a long weekend, say 4 days, in north Wales sometime late September or early October? An end of season hoon and a chance for some of those new Atom 4s to get run in. Possibly include an Anglesey track day. The last Welsh weekend in 2017, we did south and mid Wales. Time for the North. :)

Im looking into a trip for myself. Probably have a base then drive around the best roads from there. Let me know if you are a possible, so I can make sure accommodation is appropriate for more cars.

If you are going to tie it in with a track day at Anglesey then I am in. I did it last year and there are some great roads up there and Anglesey is a brilliant circuit. The EVO triangle is a fantastic road. Will be a proper test of my 4 as well

How about arriving at our base in north wales (yet to be identified) on Saturday 28 Sep or Sunday 29 Sep. Anglesey circuit have a Javlin trackday on Tuesday 1 October. We could have 1 or 2 days driving around north Wales then trackday Tuesday then home on Wednesday 2 October?

Does that work for you? We have 6 cars potentially, so far

I arrive back from a week in the US on Friday 27th September, so could head to Welsh Wales on Saturday 28th until whenever really.

I'll fit around whatever best works best for the track beasts ;-)

That works for me. I will need to book a ferry well in advance as I will be coming over from Jersey but that all sounds great. If anyone is coming from down south then would be good to meet up and drive up through Wales rather than the motorways

Could do Nick. Got request from Ian for later and Jane for earlier. Either way will probably have to drop track day. Can Jane not do the following weekend?

Yes Jane could do 3rd to 6th Oct. Thus to Sun is best for her so she doesn't have to take annual leave.
My concern would be the weather. Can we find a hotel on booking.com with free cancellation in case we need to ditch it?

I would be happy with that and I assume Ian as well? We went later in October last time which wasn't too bad until tropical cyclone hit. ;D

Have been looking at hotels to base ourselves. Haven't found anything suitable yet. I also have access to a timeshare of 3 or 4 cottages on Anglesey, which if not booked may be suitable. That will save us some cash.

Means we drop Anglesey trackday? Reluctant to do that, however i really wanted to get my tuition with Si at Bedford before hand, which is now not looking likely.

So who is happy with Thursday 3 October to Sunday 6 October?

1 day driving up, then two days driving around north wales, 1 day back. I might trailer up there or just enjoy driving up the great roads from south to north wales.
