Atom 3 rev counter fault

Post by Fastlane » Thu May 09, 2024 11:19 am

I have the standard Spa analogue "kit dash" on my supercharged 3. The rev counter has a strange fault where it keeps dropping out after about 30 seconds of starting up the car. If I switch the ignition off and on again, it works again, but then stops. It does its start-up sweep OK and the speedo is working OK as are the lights etc.

Anybody any ideas? The factory doesn't seem to know.

I got nervous about mine and started looking into what the options to repair or refurbish them is.. got through to the people who now own SPA and they basically said 'no chance'. They offered to look in their old boxes of demo units to see if there was a spare anywhere but no joy.

I think really the only option is to send it to a generic cluster repair place and see what they can do, but prepare yourself to go cap in hand to the factory for an upgrade to one of the more modern clusters.

Thankfully (touching every bit of wood I can see) mine's actually been good as gold but I'm kinda resigned to the fact it'll go one day.

Sorry, I know that's not hugely reassuring!
