Fuel and temp gauge
Fuel and temp gauge
Hi, the trickle charger hasn’t been connected to my 2016 3.5 for while and the battery was heading south of 12volts so I thought rather than charging the battery I might as well take it for a quick ride out today as the weather was on side. Despite being mild. it’s still only 9 degrees and I found it running hotter than I remember. Fan was kicking in intermittently and when cruising at 70mph I was seeing engine temps of 94 degrees
Is this normal, what sort of temps does yours run at.
Also how are everyone else’s fuel gauges as mine was indicating only 7 litres of fuel when stationary yet pump clicked off after only 16litres and gauge read 40 litres.
Thanks in advance

Thats the magic saving tool 3.5! You poor in 16 liters and you’ll get 40…thats normal. They dont want you to run it too low as it will fuelcut in long turns
Re: Fuel and temp gauge
I see, makes sense. What about operating temperatures?

Re: Fuel and temp gauge
94 is a the correct temperature for your 3.5 It should operate around this even in very cold conditions!
RE the Fuel gauge -Speedmachine has the correct information! Set up likethis, you can never run out of fuel (unless of course you just keep driving and dont put fuel in at all!)
Make sure you either disconnect the battery or keep it trickle charged when storing for more that around 7-10 days, as the small gel-type battery doesnt like being discharged below 12v and replacements are expensive!
Happy Atoming!

That's interesting as my 3 5R, when not stuck in traffic and in clear air, generally runs between 82° and 88° - even in the Cyprus summer - and the electric fan usually kicks in at circa 93° - 94° and cuts out at 88°.
However this may be because I retrofitted, on Steve Roooke's advice, an Atom V8 radiator to better cope with the Cyprus summer temperatures which regularly get up into the middle 40°s!
- he said that he thought it would be a nuch better choice, in my case, than the dual radiator hot weather option.

Re: Fuel and temp gauge
A routine running temp in the range of 82-88 sounds spot on to me.
