Launching an Atom 4
Launching an Atom 4
Due to my car still running in I have not had a chance to truly feel the acceleration yet but I thought I read from one of the magazine features that launching in 2nd gear was just as quick can anyone confirm this perhaps if they have done times runs if this is true?

Re: Launching an Atom 4
I have an Atom 3.5R (360bhp) rather than an Atom 4 and virtually never use 1st gear to launch
As it's such a light car 1st gear, in my opinion, is virtually redundant on an Atom!

Yep miles better launching in 2nd gear on the 4 just use plenty revs on engagement

For reference, here is Steve Sutcliffe at Autocar doing a 0-100-0 run in a supercharged Atom 2 back in 2007 - he launches in 2nd gear and gets from 0-100 in 6.07 seconds, which is still mighty impressive. I'd love to know if an Atom 4 could match or better this...over to you Charlie.

Interesting the Atom 4 official 0-100 time is only 6.8 so don’t think I could beat it also I am a bit confused that I presume was the 300BHP supercharged version is this still classed as an atom 2 or was it not an atom 3 then and that was even faster than the official 6.4 secs time I believe

I’ve owned an atom 2 supercharged and a 3.5 supercharged. So the supercharger means hp, not generation.
The 2 you can recognize on the bubbly round screens, as from gen 3 there where these gunsights (winddeflectors straight up)
3.5 is a bit harder to recognize.
