PPF and Ceramic Coating
PPF and Ceramic Coating
I have found a Company that really goes out of the way to do a good job on the Atom.
I'm really pleased with the job that they did with both pre-cut and bespoke cuts for top notch ppf. The areas that can't be covered have been ceramic coated and the finish looks absolutely great in real life.
They are Scudo Forte in Hampshire : https://www.scudoforte.co.uk/ 02393 233 978
I have absolutely no affiliation with them but they are real car enthusiasts and I will be taking other vehicles to them.
Cheers,
Stu

And I would strongly recommend Jon at
http://Advancedetail.co.uk
In Leeds. They're doing a car for me and a very good friend with a McLaren MSO HS wouldn't go anywhere else.

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
What bits and bobs did you guys get PPF'd? Mine is booked in with a local place to me and I've asked them to do:
Wings,
Bottom bar of the frame,
Mudguards,
Wishbones & Pushrods,
Aeroscreen
Anything else I've missed?

Front of Lights surround
All forward facing elements of the chassis, especially as you get to the rear of the car as the front wheels throw stones backwards at the engine area.
Bonnet (or at least the first half)
Front of Airbox
I have also done the bars and centre panel above the handbrake as belts scratch here from experience.
I have also had a clear vinyl wrap put on the cooler as the return angle particularly would pick up damage plus I've done the fuel tank outer edge for good measure. Tbh, with the Atom it's hard to know where to stop.

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
Out of interest, what sort of money was the PPF work was at Scudoforte - and was it XPEL that they used? Atom looks great!
Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
I don't know the price for just the ppf as I had everything that wasn't ppf'd ceramic coated (inc the wheels.)
I had an agreed price of £1,500 (inc Vat) in advance as this was their first Atom. I think that they took longer than they expected and so I guess the "real" price may be a bit higher?
Yes, it was XPEL Ultimate Plus.
They were really nice guys to deal with.

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
Many thanks for the info Stu - appreciated
Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
Doesn't look a whole lot like your car, Stu? Thought yours had a black frame, red paint & wings?
Apart from that they're identical though, to be be fair :-)

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
You missed the wheels old friend, they are the new ones too
It's a dull and not forum worthy story. I'll bore you with it over a beer hopefully at some point later in the year if you're about.

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
i thought about the ppf
but surely £1500 would get the car proper tidied up at the end of ownership.......... if needed?

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
That's a fair point and I have no idea just how long it will last (although it does have a 10 year guarantee.)
For me though, adding the ceramic coat was a chunk of the cost and it should make it easier to keep looking good. I hate cleaning the bloomin' thing.

Re: PPF and Ceramic Coating
Is ceramic coating the new snake oil? A few guys have had it done and tbh having had a couple of cars detailed, products like collinite are cheap, easy to apply and seriously good. Would £1500 upfront work out cheaper than a detail pre sale, along with applying helicopter tape to wishbones etc?

I am glad you posted that pic as that is bang on what I am thinking of ordering colour scheme wise and it looks superb.
