Silverstone Round 1 Video

Post by Richard Marler » Mon May 12, 2014 8:10 am

For anyone interested I have put up a video of my Silverstone Round 1 race. The picture quality is not great (combination of rain and dirt), the driving quality is not much better, but for those that came to watch the race, I thought it might be interesting to see the same race from a driver perspective.

I think it is a nice video, cool to see the fight for 3rd!

At 5,30 your colleague isn't able to stay on the track, that could be exciting at those speeds  :o

Good vid. With the cars so well matched, the pressure on the driver is unrelenting.

Paul was very enthusiastic all weekend and that chicane seemed to give him problems. It was there a little later that he ran into the side of me.

To be honest Tom, it was quite ragged, but I did really enjoy myself. Because I am running on a budget this year, I had new rear tyres and fronts that have now done 6 or 7 days. I felt I could compete up until the last couple of laps, but after I got tapped my confidence and any smoothness went. Most importantly though I did really enjoy it.

20 minutes seems like it would be no time at all, but I can tell you when I was 2nd on lap 7, it felt like it lasted forever. First 6 of my laps were within 1 second of each other, so I am now more consistent, but I do feel the pressure.

Thanks Gav, be good to see you guys soon. That goes for anyone else also. Next meet is Rockingham 24/25 May. Haven't been there for years and never done this circuit layout. Watch this video of Nick's around the 2:20 mark, to see the challenges Rockingham can hold!!

Think it was Martin at 5,30 in the vid, not Donkey!

I had no idea how exciting the race had been until I watched this - mega stuff!

You should have a go!

My car's free for Brands, as I'm away in Switzerland with ...oh, I see the problem...

I'd love to have a go...but my spare cash is in a new house deposit.  :)

We can have our own race along the Sustenpass in Switzerland. I'll start whilst you're eating cake at the cafe in Meringen.

Certainly an interesting move on Nick and I. Maybe i should take a leaf out of your book and give you less room next time, so difficult to find the balance of fair racing but keeping an advantage.
