Norm - The front roll bar brackets are those 2 metal pieces sticking up in front of the aero screens!

That's some awesome-looking work there, Colin. What make/model are the 16" wheels?

The wheels are not a long term solution, just the most cost effective way for me to try the tyre sizeing.
We had the wheels made up from a set of 16X8" Super Lights we purchased. 10" super lights were available, but the offsets did not work - so we had to add 4" to the rear and 2" to the front to get the width :-(.
The sizing works really well for the Atom and the tyres are consitantly availble and well priced in SA.
I plan to get a set of lighter split rims made in this size now.

I also have a set of 17"X9" & 16"X8" Dymags which I would love to be able to use because they cost me a fortune. We just can't find an affordable tyre that is available for them locally - we had quality issues with the Yokohama, they were a special import, but sent old tyres that have no grip and the Dunlops work out too expensive because I find they are only good for a couple of heat cycles before they go off.

As long as it is a T3, you should be OK (i don't know that much about Turbos).
We started with a T4 and could not get enough boost out of it in the higher rev range.
I have a Garret GT3582R-63

While we wait for parts, I can show some other work that is done this year.

Because of good setup on the car it goes a bit too fast in the curves. Because of that (maybe) The Old Upright's destroyed the bearings and got the wheel to come off a bit.
This meant that the brake disc dragged ii the lower uniballs.

I had to change

Rear uprights
lower rear uniballs
left rear drive shaft.
rear brake pads.

Here are some pictures.

I had similar issues, luckily we picked the problem up a bit earlier than you and only made a tiny groove in the disc.
the original bearings Ariel put in the uprights are a joke, not sure what they were thinking?

To save the cost of importing new uprights from the US, we machined the uprights to fit a suitable bearing available locally and have not had any issue since.

Did you upgrade to the new stronger uprights?

Yes
I bought a pair of upright from Palatov. You see them on the last pic.

Hi
Now I´m back again.  ;D

We have finally begun to build. As you can see on the pictures we have mounted intercooler, turbo & the new exhaust.

We will take it all away when we are satisfied with the location. Then we will paint the brackets for components and isolate the exhaust and other hot pipes.

nice work.  :tu:  sure looks tight in there, wont the heat from the turbo/cat push up the air inlet temps being so close to the intercooler?
