It’s been for sale for 6months at least.

Only priced 10k less than the mega spec 3.5r with sequential everything carbon, Ohlins, Dymags etc

Yes but cant buy a new 3.5 anymore, so probably a case of “better to expensive, than not for sale”

And atom 4’s are sold for the more expensive 2023 listprice (or over) when actually used. This car would be much more expensive to build now…

That being said, most people would buy the newer car, but he only needs one fanatic enthusiast who really wants a “new” 3.5

Just don’t think it will sell at close to that money. If you’re a fanatic you don’t want a base spec version imo. Especially when it’s not in the launch / iconic 3.5r colour scheme…
All in my opinion of course

I'd like the upgrade but think it's a bit steep too for the spec there, I've seen here a few people upgrade to 3.5R , wonder how much that costs loosely compared with a (newer) car?

If you want the full 3.5R upgrade with all the bells and whistles it's usually rather closer to £18000!

Depends directly on what you spec, you are right if you mean just adding the pods, charge cooler and oil cooler but if you want to go the 'whole hog' and have the frame upgraded to the FULL 3.5R spec which includes adding the mounting points for a sequential gearbox and the additional frame strengthening plus adding Ohlins (if not already fitted) it all adds up to rather more!

The point made in a previous post in that this one for sale appears to be the absolute 'bottom feeder' spec for a 3.5R!

For the sequential you’ll get quoted over 50k as the whole car needs stripping to adjust the frame for the sequential, repowdercoating and re assembling. Than add the 25k for the box, paddles etc. Adds up to 50 or more and factory doesnt really fancy doing it.
I know as I asked, i wanted to build the last 3.5R sequential out of my 3.5, but after some quote my mind was healed and I ordered a sequential 4.

Power upgrade with pods is 12k ish

Which makes the one on Autotrader a bargain. Literally has all the options including carbon tillets.

Makes me want another 3.5r! must resist and see someone about my issues

Speedmachine

I actually have all the bills from when my Atom was upgraded to a 3.5R by the Ariel factory in 2018!

This included a full frame strip - frame back to the makers to be fully modified/upgraded to the full 3.5R spec, it was then re-powder coated in the latest Gunmetal and the car was then rebuilt as a 3.5R by Ariel with Ohlins and an Atom V8 radiator plus quite a few other bits and pieces!

It was at the factory for just over 5 months and I picked it up just in time to run it at Silverstone in that year's SuperCar Sunday in June!

In the end I decided not to go for the sequential!

Jamier
The 3.5R for sale is missing what to me is the the single 'essential' requirement for a 3.5R to make the best use of it's extra power - it has standard Bilsteins rather than Ohlins fitted which make it much less desirable - I also suspect that, although not mentioned in the Ad, that (as it's a 2018 model) there's a good chance that it probably has the silvertop K24 engine fitted?

As an addendum I would add that I have only quoted the cost of the frame upgrade strip and rebuild, pods, charge cooler and oil cooler - after adding all the other bits and pieces that were done the the cost was almost double!!

What did you pay for what? Very curious. My request was 2019-2020 and these where the figures.

This car has the k24 99%, you would have seen some of the red
