Will that engine fit in my Atom?

probably, it is about 1/2 the size as an ecotec. the ecotec's biggest dimension is 1700mm and this engine is 666mm

But then you would need all the room you saved to carry extra fuel unless you wanted to limit you driving to a quick trip around the block.

Sounds good to me. We need to get tickets and parking sorted really early, probably within the next couple of months. Race day is 25 January 2009.

Re: A1GP 2008/2009 Season
I didn't get to see the whole of this seasons first race but from the highlights it was pretty eventful. The season opener, at Zandvoort, saw a wet track and plenty of carnage.
Great Britain skipped the round
USA (Charlie Kimbal) did the fastest lap in the feature race but crashed after 30 of the 36 laps.
NZ (Earl Bamber) got a 2nd and 3rd for 3rd OA
France (Loïc Duval) a 3rd and 1st for 2nd OA
Malaysia (Fairuz Fauzy) a 1st and 2nd to lead the championship at the end of Round 1.

Re: A1GP 2008/2009 Season
Now that Andretti/Green is running our entry, the A1 series should have more interest here in the US. It'll be very interesting to see what happens when Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick race. They'll need to prove themselves against mostly drivers we've never heard of, to show that they've earned their IndyCar rides and to disprove the notion that they've been gifted those rides because of their name or gender. I know Danica did compete quite well in Europe, but that was a long time ago.

Not enough cars to go round yet as far as I can tell hence the UK (and some others) missing the initial rounds.

Re: A1GP 2008/2009 Season
I lost interest in this season when six teams couldn't make the first meeting, including the GB team.
Three didn't even make the second meeting (Canada, Germany and Pakistan) so it's not really a level playing field any more which was one of the main attractions.
Let's hope they sort it out for next season and I might give it another chance.

Re: A1GP 2008/2009 Season
Alec,
There are 23 teams in A1GP so that leaves 17 on a level playing field, to-date. What's more is there are still 8 out of the 10 rounds left to race and any thing could happen. GB are already 8th and anything could happen. Just because a few, including GB, got off to a bad start is no reason to give up on following a competition that is right up there with F1 and IRL. I used to watch F1, before it move to SKY, even though there are no Kiwi drivers (watch this space) and there have not been for many years.

Re: A1GP 2008/2009 Season
Did anyone catch the Sepang, Malaysia race?
I thought they only had those sorts of starts in F1. CF everywhere.
What was the Malaysian driver thinking? He gave away his podium position, in front of his home crowd, for an unnecessary pit stop. At least it enable Andretti to finish 3rd in the feature. I guess that makes up for the USA car being smashed to pieces at the start of the Sprint.
GB had a shocker. It was just not their day.
Ireland, two wins and now the Championship leader by 8 points.
If you didnâ??t watch it you missed some excellent motorsport.
Thatâ??s it until the 2009 part of the season. Next race Taupo, NEW ZEALAND.
