Well, let's face it that's a serious amount of cash.
Frankly, if I wasn't absolutely in awe of the car.....I wouldn't go there.
Too much to spend on a whim.
They'll be available in a couple of years...cheaper, problems ironed out, honed even more.
And besides, the Atom'll amuse in the meantime.

That Wattie, sums up exactly the thought process I had after the launch event.

Ross - to me, if it hasnt wowed you and any downside isnt overwhelmed by the excitement then dont buy. But then again I would have had to sell everything to buy it.

I suggest now would be the cheapest time to own the car, if it was only for six months depreciation is likely to be minimal > none, likewise servicing costs.  In a few years out of warranty and greater supply so loosing money.

Especially if you were buying one from downunder. The decline in the USD has put our money at a 26 year high.

My race coach has worked on the MP4-12C for the past 18 months, developing the suspension with Mclaren. He isn't easily impressed, but he says it's absolutely awesome. I think you should all buy one. Not totally sold on the styling though. The 458 looks nicer in my opinion

Don't think there's any question on the suspension /ride quality....top drawer, limo like At times.....but the whole package doesn't seem to "stir the soul" (and they bragged it would be the nuts....which doesn't help with the  shortcomings).

Still undecided although I'm leaning more towards not buying one now.  If I have a second test drive that may change, but I doubt it now really.

I've always wanted to build myself a stripped out Mini (the original one) racer with a new shell and all the mad racy bits that are available for them these days.  The deposit on the McLaren should just about cover that and the project will take up far less room in my garage than a McLaren.  And at the end of the day, I think I'll get a lot more satisfaction from having room in the garage for doing stuff like that rather than simply housing a large very expensive vehicle I only use from time to time.

I may just look at trading the Jag in for something like an R8 instead. Meeting up today for lunch with a recent acquaintance to have a go in his as he's trading up to a McLaren...

My best decision recently has been to invest in more Lego 'for the kids'.

If you want a Mini.....I can point you in the right direction. Mark at Pyro has an awesome one that he races. Has dumped around 50k on it and what he doesn't know about Minis, probably isn't worth knowing.

There's a company the other side of the country from you that specialises in putting Honda engines in the back of minis... Can't remember the name, but they were a possible for Ariel servicing at one point...

Tuned A series for me I think.  I've been studying Vizard's A series tuning bible since I was a wee lad.

I like the concept of a Honda engined, tubular chassied, GRP bodied Mini, but it's not really for me.
