I'm after a Road Legal Ariel Atom Cup 2013 onwards with no more than 2 owners.

(Just sold my AA2 supercharged after 14 years ownership so need a replacement)

2016 registered car manufactured in 2016 according HPI

Wonderful example of the Ariel Atom 2.0 Honda Vtech, 3.5 specification. Amazing car with loads of extras. 1 previous owner, 2 years old Really high spec: Adjustable brake bias Alcon big brake upgrade Ohlins adjustable suspension Updated 3.5 chassis Low mileage - 3,500 miles. 5 point harness 6 speed quick ratio gearbox (with lsd) Aero deflector Recently serviced, nearly new rear tyres, great condition, ready to be enjoyed. Looks excellent …. Accept that Ariel says it was first built and sold in March 2013 (?) not Oct 2016 and has no Factory Service history

A quick trawl of the internet shows pics of number 94 - based on the previous owner who is the boss of the current owner - must of invented time travel back to June 2013!

I suspect that as it is an Atom Cup car it would not have been road registered whilst racing.

After the series wound up, the owner probably made it road legal and registered it in 2016, technically making it seem to be a newer car than it actually was. Without speaking to them it's impossible to tell whether he's being open or not. Lots of cup cars had bumps and bruises but as long as they have been properly repaired then they would be ok. It does seem like strong money though considering its history.

It’s got a K20 engine. Ariel were only supplying K24 engines from 66 reg onwards. So it must have been built for track and registered later?

Its a buyer beware thing - rather trying to avoid. As said AA Cups will have had a bit of stick!

HPI says manufactured and registered in 2016 - it was definitely first built, sold and used from March 2013. The advert says it two years old when its actually 5.5 years old with at least 3 seasons of racing under its belt.

Not strictly true. My 2018 3.5 has a K20z engine (which confused Steve when I took it for its 500 mile service as he thought he’d have to reset the valve clearances as he had assumed it was as K24.)

It does vary and I thought it was just 'normal' post 2016 mk3.5s that had the k24 but I've seen at least one 3.5R with a k24.

I am right in thinking it's an easy visual spot? Red top engine v black top engine?

Silver top and a central exhaust port rather than the k20's 4 ports ...

This 2013 Cup has just come up for sale. Don't know the site, but maybe worth a call. Last MOT in January 2018 shows 9663 miles.
