For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
The time has come to part with my most cherished possession. I have owned the car for over 8 years and have loved every minute of it. If you like being noticed, don’t mind people pointing at you and can tolerate the endless stream of questions when stationary, this is the car for you.

Having followed all the work you have done and the time lavished on this car I think that the money you are asking for it is very fair indeed!

Seems good value to me but then I'm biased
Re: For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
Update: Collected the car from the factory on Wednesday after its very thorough inspection. A small number of minor snags found and now fixed. I was quietly confident in my own workmanship, but now, so can others be. Inspection report with annotations below.

Hi
We managed to get out in your Atom today (dry), all ok, just clutch pedal felt a little heavy than normal (guessing you have fitted an uprated unit). Correct
Points we have noted:
1. Very slight play in the n/s rack joint - Rack joint adjusted 1/8th of a turn (one position) to take up the very slight play and cotter pin reinstalled
2. Engine mounts have no lock washers installed - Lock washers now installed. It didn't have these fitted when I acquired it, maybe it's a new safeguard
3. Electric water pump hose is touching the fuel tank - Resolved when Item 4 was addressed
4. Coolant pipes not attached to the gear shift mechanism/bracket - Oversight on my part. Pipes now secured
5. Rear lamp bracket cracked (o/s/r) - Blasted, welded and re-powdercoated - invisible mend and looks like new
6. Rear hydraulic brake lines appear to have been modified, at the union end on the calliper Badly corroded rear unions and banjos previously replaced with stainless steel
7. Front lower damper bolts are in the wrong way around in the bell cranks - Personal preference, no safety implication. When installed with the nut on top (factory's way) the nose section needs to be removed in order to dismount the dampers. With the nut on the bottom the nose does not need to be removed but the bottom damper bolt needs to be removed before the top or you run the risk of the lower bolt foulding / marking the frame
8. Gear linkage cables routed differently to factory - Necessitated by the fitment of a Slick-Shift gear change kit and the addition of proper rod ends to cables
9. Chassis repaired at rear (engine bay), not by the factory - Two hairline cracks (not uncommon on an Atom 2 sadly) ground, welded and braced by GKN certified welder before the frame re-coat
10. Handbrake system not Ariel calipers - Hi-Spec SVA approved spot calipers are fitted in preference to the factory units as they are much lighter and cheaper. Car has successfully passed the MoT handbrake road test for last 5 years
So as you can see nothing too serious.

Steve

Re: For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
Very nice example. I would say it's mint condition and considering it's a 2005 car, clearly been very well looked after.
Where did you get the carbon wrap done? Looks much better than painting it in my opinion.

Re: For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
Thanks Simon. Used a local firm here in Telford http://www.stripemaster.co.uk/ but any good wrapping firm should be able to tackle it - the key is using quality wrap. Mine has APA https://www.apaspa.com/en/ which, at the time, was about the best (it's 4 years old now but still looking good)

Not in the short to medium term Graeme. I may have to scratch the itch again in the future - time will tell

Re: For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
On the one hand, I'm happy for you that you were able to sell your Ariel.
On the other hand we lose a very competent and always helpful Ariel driver here.
Thanks for your support.

Re: For Sale: Atom 2 (2005) Supercharged
Thanks Curves. I'll still hang around in the forum (at least for a while). Having nothing Ariel in my life will be tough and I think talking about them may help. Interestingly, my Atom is heading to Munich so maybe not too far from you.
