Re: What was your first car
Learned to drive in a 1963 Ford Falcon Station Wagon, and drove a 1985 Chevrolet Sprint (essentially a Suzuki Swift) in high school.
The first car I ever bought was a 1990 Mazda Miata. I still have it.

Mk 1 fiesta 850, mk1 fiesta 1.1, mk1 fiesta 1.3 with supersport engine with fat webber carb. Got sick of welding skin sills & transplanting engines/gearboxes outside mums house. so saved up and bought a lot newer car 1.3 nova SR. Did the loud stereo big bore thing for about 6 months and then grew up. Never crashed any of my cars (touches wood)

First car of my own was a red Mini city 1000 which, being a teenager, I felt obliged to Barry up with white alloys, wide arches, a LOUD centre exhaust and just one bucket seat (which i fitted myself). Driving to work one day, two of the bolts in the bucket seat sheared off and the seat collapsed backwards with me lying prone and staring at the ceiling!
And that is why subsequently I only trust professionals to tinker with my cars.

Apologies. That middle exit pipe must have been what made you decide to move then? A taste of things to come?

Owned two Fiesta mk1 1.3 supersports. Great little cars. The first one, the big end went in the outside lane of the M1.
The second I managed to roll and reduce it's height by 50%.

Re: What was your first car
Alfa Romeo 156 1.8TS "Bella". Sport pack, beige leither MOMO interior, black metallic, etc. etc. Loved it every moment untill some moron in the street thought it was wise to fly with approx. 60Mph over a speed bump, totalling 5 cars
However this gave me the oppurtunity to by a more economical car, so I can safe up for the Atom

Re: What was your first car
That's why I'm having a Ford Ka now for the daily commute
No seriously, the Alfa wasn't all risk insured, so the insurance was alright really, plus I got a good discount via my work.
Oh, and also seriously. I really do drive a Ka. Must be the worst prep for an Atom ever...
