Registration in NC

Hi,
I’m getting ready to go on the wait list for an atom 4. I live in NC and looking at the whole registration and insurance process. No interest in doing the Montana LLC route for a lot of reasons.
So, how did you go about doing this for your car?
Car comes with an MCO( manufacturer’s certificate of origin) but does not have emissions equipment.
Looks like it’s registered as a specially constructed vehicle. How’s the lack of emission equipment handled.
