Posting Pictures from The Gallery to the Forums

This subject has come up again so here's a step by step tutorial:

Yes you can link a image directly into the forum from the Atom Gallery (or any other site that allows linking).

(IGNORE the word code and the boxes, it's what's inside that counts)

1) You need to right-click on a image on the Gallery and tell it to Copy Image Address (Mac dialogue). Windows is a little different. The copied text looks like this:

2) You then select the Image icon (2nd from the left above the smilies) to insert the image:

[img][/img]

3) Paste the URL of the image in between the img brackets.

pasted in between these brackets:

[img] [b]RIGHT HERE[/b] [/img]

Complete it looks like this when you are writing the post:

It all comes together and would look like this:






Let me know how it goes. Once you do it a few times it's fine. If it breaks (usually because a [ is misplaced) just click Modify on your post and fix it. I'll update this article as needed.

Ken, now I need another lesson on how to add new pics to the gallery!  I tried the instructions that you gave me the last time I asked about it, but to no avail.

Hi all, I can add pics to the gallery, just downsize using Image resizer powertoy, downloaded from Bruce's link in the Bedford trackday thread, then upload file using the house icon on the left in the gallery, you need access to the gallery of course. My problem, copying from the gallery to a reply in the forum, in windows XP, is that the only copy command right click allowing pasting is the  copy shortcut command which gives a javascript , which won't insert image

The address of my image in the gallery appears as http://gallery.atomclub.com/displayimag ... at=0&pos=0, not the format that you are getting:

I'd need to reboot into Windows but... off the top of my head... try  Open Image In New Window and then copy the url which should end in JPG.

Sorry open image in new window still won't give the url in the format you have....

OK here it is. Understand it's best to do this with 2 open browser windows or Tabs. That way you can type up your info, go to the gallery window and copy the info then go right back to the post and paste the link in.


Windows XP:
Right Click > Properties > then in the window that opens up you will see the actual URL Address of the image itself which you can copy (highlight text and Control-C to copy)

Mac OSX
Right click > copy image address

Once you have the image address copied then just paste (Control-V in Windows) it into the proper place and you are there. Again, once you've done this a few times it becomes second nature doesn't really slow you down. Most people just don't have the patience to learn/use it. Photobucket and other sites make it more straightforward to get the link but then you get into pictures that disappear from time to time.

Cool. The Gallery displays a max of 800 pixels wide (it supports even bigger). You are currently doing 640x480.  So... If it were me I'd  bump it up one notch to 800 so people looking at your stuff see more detail.
