Time an hour out (again!) ?

Post by John Scherrer » Sun Oct 31, 2010 8:17 pm

Looks like the forum software/server is not Daylight Saving Time aware ..

Posts showing +1 hour ahead ..

We never found a server wide solution for this problem, but individual users who are bothered by the time being out can change it as follows:

Click the 'Profile' button above and then the 'Look and Layout Preferences' link on the left. In the next screen you will see a 'Time Offset:' which for UK users can be set to -1 to make the time appear correctly.

Now we have upgraded the forum software, I have reverted the timezone and DST settings to the default, which appears to be working in the UK. Please report if the time information is incorrect in your region.

Hmmmm - Same old problem Richard, the forum is an hour ahead of GMT after the weekend ..

I've changed my offset from +1 to 0 to correct it ...

Strangely jumping out of a plane didn't actually kill me, and seeing as we are running a new version of the forum software, I thought I would have another go at fixing this.

John, as the man that notices all things, can you check to see if this new setting works for you?

Hi Richard I'm at work at the moment, but the forum time is an hour ahead of real time.

I've just changed my profile on this PC to be -1 and it's now correct of course ..

Thanks ..

Thanks for fixing it, although I can report my wristwatch has been working perfectly throughout the crisis so it did not spoil my enjoyment of the forum too much.

Yes it's boring but IT folk worry about how systems handle daylight saving time (or not) and it's intriguing that the forum software always has issues.
