Forum downtime - 10:00 - 12:00 (GMT) 23rd Nov 2007
Re: Forum downtime - 10:00 - 12:00 (GMT) 23rd Nov 2007
You'll probably find it will all go haywire again when I revert back to the correct host name later this week (probably Friday), but clearing you cache/cookies etc. should get things back on track eventually.
Cheers, Ross.

Okay, I'm going to switch the forum back to using the forum.atomclub.com host name today - it's bound to cause some problems with things like unread messages so if you have problems following the switch, please just clear your web browser's cache and cookies.
Cheers, Ross.

This is a cache of gold found near Florence. If you've got one and you are clearing it out then I'll have it.
and these are some cookies. Again if you have some and are clearing them out then, as long as they're fresh, I'll have them as well.

Sorry about this guys, I've had few forum users reporting problems since switching back to the forum.atomclub.com address so I guess the DNS updates haven't got round the whole Internet yet.
So I've switched back to the temporary address for the time being and will try it again on Monday morning (at which point, I'm afraid it will have to stay as forum.atomclub.com and anyone still with problems will have to chase their ISP to get them to kick their DNS servers).
To check whether your own ISP's DNS server has updated yet, please ping forum.atomclub.com from a command prompt. If you get anything other than 82.71.204.17 then your local DNS hasn't updated yet so please post here to let me know so I can keep tabs on it (please don't post if it's okay!).
Cheers, Ross.

Right, I've switched the forum backover to using it's correct URL again.
I can't detect any problems with it here myself since doing so, but doubtless others will - however, this time - unless it's affecting a majority - I really need to leave it using the correct host name so that I can completely retire the other one and box.
Before reporting any problems, please clear your browser's cache and cookies, have a cup of tea, go for a drive, sacrifice a chicken and then let me know if when you ping forum.atomclub.com you get a reply from anywhere other than 82.71.204.17

For Windows - Start - Run - type cmd - then enter.
You now have a command prompt screen. Type 'ping forum.atomclub.com' - enter and you will get a return showing the IP address.

You've probably got a 'special' edition Dext...similar I think to discovering a gold wrapper on your Willy Wonker bar (I'm sure Ben will be along to remind of the precise name of said bar).
Cheers, Ross.
PS. anyhow, i'm assuming the forum is working fine for most people now thankfully.
