You want SAE J30R10 for in tank I believe (I only know a little about this though)

The issue is that normal fuel lines are designed to keep fuel in, and may not react well to fuel on the outer surface or to intermediate layers, which are usually some sort of weave for strength. With the whole line in the tank, both the outside and both end cuts are exposed.

And, as a followup, look at http://www.gates.com/common/downloads/f ... psForm.pdf which says:

Finally, for submersible applications such as on the in-tank fuel pump, only SAE30R10 hose should be used, because when the hose fails, the pump will fail. Hose construction consists of low swell fluoroelastomer compounds in the tube and cover that resist gasoline and diesel fuel permeation and aging. Standard hoses have these fuel-resistant characteristics in the tube portion only.

yep confrimed

Non-FI line is SAE30R7.

FI line is SAE30R9.

Submersible line is SAE30R10.

napa should have 30R10 so bring it back for an exchange and tell him that it would have been another costly repair when your hose melted. :)

napa doesn't carry 1/2 diameter, confirmed....I will check vato zone and Oreilly later today

grr.... looks like 30r10 might only come in 5/8" which I don't think will solve the problem.

still looking

glad you found something, hooking up an extra fuel line to a sock didn't sound like the best idea

1am...done with reinstall.

Tomorrow is fab and install of purge tank.......if I can find the hose fittings which are not avail at home improvement nor auto parts stores.

will test when purge is installed.

also got safety washers installed on the steering arms.  They are available in grade 8 5/16" fits the 3/8" bolt go figure, for ONE DOLLAR for 4, which leaves me with 2 extra.
