supercharger belt layout
Re: supercharger belt layout
I'd rather have that kool looking Opel speedster myself. 447hp@21lbs. of boost. I wonder how the engines hold up for track work?
Re: supercharger belt layout
This Opel speedster is not made anymore and now replaced with the "New Opel GT".
But the GT is based on the Solstice and the Sky. (Front motor and RWD.) Engined by the new 2.0 turbo 260HP LNF Ecotec.
Totally different animal than the Speedster, as that was manufactured in the Lotus factory besides the Exige & Elise:
Bonded aluminum chassis, fiberglass body and mid engine RWD.
They made a 2,2 NA Ecotec and a turbo version but this one had an older Z20LET engine type with iron block. (But tunable to serious horsepower though. => 602HP )

the belt is Napa #25-060505

Or a 25-060512 on the lower HP Ecotec Atoms.

Looking again into the belt layout:
Am I right that this Napa # is for a 6-ribbed belt with a length of 505mm?
So the Atom-LSJ uses the standard 6-rib LSJ crank pulley and a 6-rib SC pulley? How is that working with the L61 type spanner- and alternator pulleys? I thought that these parts worked with a 5-rib belt on the 2,2 ecotec's...
(Anybody of the Atom "turbo converters" have their redundant idler pulley for sale?? Or can send me some usefull pics of this? Thxs! )

Re: supercharger belt layout
Hi.
Sorry to revive an old thread...
I'm also supercharging a opel speedster/vauxhall vx220
I'd like to ask if you can see any part numbers on the alternator (so that I could find out which GM engine it's from (i.e. 2.0,2.2 or 2.4))...
And is that idler pulley still for sale?
Thanks
Richard
