Anyone have a recommendation for a 75lbs high impedance injector that will be a direct fit for the ecotec?  I contacted Intense Racing and that was a no-go.  I went through the Cobalt performance websites and only found one that sells one but it is a low impedance injector and would need a resistor pack (what ever that is)

It is a device that will increase the impedance of the injector

Does that mean the injectors run on AC or is it just a very loose use of the word impedance?

Injectors are classified into two categories.
1.  High impedance/resistance (saturated) 12-16 Ohms.
2.  Low impedance/resistance (peak & hold) 0.5-6 Ohms.

Saturated injectors require roughly 1-1.5 amps to open the injector.  Peak & hold injectors initially needs about 4-6 amps, and once open drops to roughly 2-3 amps to keep it open.

ECU design will dictate the use of one or the other.  Most late model cars will use saturated injectors.

(ie if you use low impedance on a cobalt ECU, you burn out the injector driver)

60lb. injectors are the highest volume I have seen that will fit  for high impedance use (stock ecm.) This should take you to 500hp.....

If you need more fuel you may have to use an aftermarket engine management system. ::)

The fuel injector worksheet on the bottom here says 75 for 400hp
http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx#Fue ... Worksheet_

The ecotec build book lists a 70lbs injector for up to 400hp too:

Injector applications are as follows: (Fig. 174)
- 400 hp to 600 hpâ??Gasâ??Quantity of 4, 70 lbs an hour,
RC high impedance
- 400 hp to 600 hp â?? Methanol â?? Quantity of 4, 160 lbs
an hour
- 600 hp to 1300 hp â?? Methanol â?? Quantity of 8, 160 lbs
an hour
- 1300 hp and up â?? Methanol â?? Quantity of 12, 160 lbs
an hour

Any idea what sort of boost you will have to run yet?

Here we go.  Called a local performance shop and they ran it by RC engineering and these injectors will fit and are 71 lbs

Figure 12HP per 1 PSI of boost. Base motor output at say 190. looking for 400hp=17.5psi needed. It's a decent rule of thumb. It's cocktail hour here, so I may be wrong, ..HIC.. :P

so then 100 = 1200hp.  that sounds about right

I think the next photo we would all like to see is the photo of a single man's living room with parts laid out everywhere on the tarp.  Good for you, making practical use of all that un-used open floor space. :D  One of the many benefits of being un-restrained by a marrage. [/quote]

This is BOLUS you are talking about. He stayed up ALL night and cleaned and polished those parts. He can set them anywhere. Real men don't need no stinkin tarps, the parts are likely sitting on the furniture, dining room table, on his White carpet etc... :) Even the parts he knows will not be going back on.

C/mon you know you wanna post THAT picture Bolus.. right?    :pop:
