Super Trackstick

Usually I purge my Spam folder, but this

http://www.googleearthstore.com/Product ... Code=2-STS

caught my eye as potentially being an interesting alternative (and cheaper) than LoJack

I have no affiliation, Promise!

Does anyone have a viewpoint?

Closer examination suggests it's not an alternative for LoJak.
It does not communicate position only stores GPS pos. data as it moves.

You have to lay hands on it and download data whereupon you can o'lay onto Google Earth.

The copy editor(s) verge on suggesting it does more.
Reminds me of a scam actually, to be frank.
So how it might be usefuil for personal security etc. escapes me.

If you are interested in lojack alternatives there should be some sort of cellular based option.  Many cellphones have GPS and tower triangulation and can be easily programmed to report in lat/long regularly to a web server.  A low-tech option would be to get an additional cheap data package phone on some sort of family plan (no additional monthly fee) and hook it into electric.

How much does lojack cost?

This product looks like it's better for tracking your teenage kids than creating track data for your Atom...

Only useful to track teenagers on a
"Where they've been once they get back" basis.
Not quite as useful as where are they now. (or where is the trackstick) now.
Real time Audio channel would be nice.
