JRSC belt path
JRSC belt path
Hello,
I have an atom 2 300 with the JRSC and here is the belt path : as you can observe there is an idle pulley, reducing then the contact area of the SC pulley to around 1/4th of the pulley.
I wonder if under load it can make the belt slip.
Checking other SC K20 on the internet I cannot find presence of this idle pulley:
Any thoughts ?

Re: JRSC belt path
Here you can see the belt path at my Atom3
The second pic I dont know was this engine mounted at an Atom?
Completely different position and manifold as at my car.
Third pic the same as the second and thats not a JRSC but the engine and SC looks good and yes the belt path looks much better than at your cars.

Re: JRSC belt path
You can remove the idler pulley, but be warned, belts are complicated to find.
I am now running a 2.9" Mercracing pulley, good size belt is a 7PK1196. No idea if there is an adequate belt for the stock pulley

Just a quick word...
Dont remove the Idler Pulley! If you need some information about belt path, or a belt - let us know at the factory

But you have to wait a very long time for delivery.Yorkshire wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 10:28 am This is what i had fitted to my 3.5R achieves approx 80% belt wrap round but not cheap!

Jose, the owner of Mercracing, is not very reliable.
I bought once from him - never again. He had promised me 2-3 weeks delivery time - in the end it was almost 4 months that I had to wait.

Re: JRSC belt path
the mercracing tensioner is definitely the right way to do it.
For the "easy" idler removal, hundreds of Elises are running this way, but tbh it's difficult to find right belts and it may lead inadequate stress on the SC itself (as the auto tensionner pulls directly on it and not on an idler pulley as stock or with the mercracing system)
