New 2-piece design discs for Alcon brakes

Post by K20A2 » Tue Sep 21, 2021 1:09 pm

Did anybody already fit the new design 2-piece brake discs from the factory and would perhaps share the experiences?

Many thanks

Wasp specced it and I think Hamtt bought a car with it fitted, so there are a few out there.

I got them in my Atom 3 sports brake to Alcon upgrade kit. Look nice and do their job well.

I've got the AP 2 piece jobbies on my 4 but didn't know if you were talking about Alcon ones for the 3?

The brakes are entirely different on the 4 to the 3 so it's a bit tricky to compare. The geometry and ant-dive stuff means that the 4 is very stable under braking but in honesty I don't think that there's a lot of difference between the single piece and 2 piece set-up on the AP's.

The bite on the 4 is nothing like as immediate as the old Alcon set-up but they are phenomenally powerful. I doubt that on the 4 it's worth the £1k premium tbh and for my money, I preferred the feel of the Alcons.

Cheers,
Stu

Thank you for the feedback.
Indeed I am looking at the Alcon ones only, so Atom 2, 3 and 3.5
The single piece discs are not available anymore for the Alcon brakes.

That difference is presumably down to the pad?

The 2 piece discs on the 4 aren’t floating are they, which makes them seem quite expensive to me for what they are.
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Yes the pads fitted on the Atom 4 with AP calipers are not giving a good feeling on track. Change them to more agressive ones from Pagid, Ferodo or CL for example.
