My car is currently at the factory having a baffled sump fitted.
It's an engine out job, so probably going to cost 15 hours labour over having it installed from new.
Still, Rookie promised to fit free Ohlins, carbon Fibre mudguards and the Sadev box for free to sweeten the deal. ;)
Well, he said he'd check the clutch was good as it's basically the same job to replace that too.

I just would rather err on the side of caution.

Cheers,
Stu

I believe the baffled sump should be a mandatory item on the atom.
It will not hurt someone that wont take it on track and the cost of the sump is peanuts compared to the whole car.
Specially since it's an engine out job afterwards.

You don't need to take the engine out to remove the sump. I've done it - see reply 28 on the thread John has linked.

You can do it with engine in but you need to rise it up a little bit as explained in an other thread. I have done it twice.
There are only 2 cases on tracks where you don t need a baffled sump on an Atom 3 or 3.5 :
. Wet track
. Driving like a Grandmama in corners
In every other case you absolutely need a baffled sump, good oil and goid oil level and regular oil change (mainly because of oil dilution) to prevent your engine from damages.

You can put it out and made it modified by Ariel factory and second option is to buy an after market one.
I have used both the Toda and the Spoon. The Spoon is better to my opinion (when i bought the first Toda the Spoon was not on the market ). I had fitted a spa oil pressure and oil temp sensors to monitor them on track.
Dry sump is top (i have it on my V8), but it is a much bigger change to do on the K20Z4 than a simple baffled sump change.

Once again I had brilliant service from the Factory. :tu:

I left the car with them for a couple of weeks as I wasn't in a hurry.

12 hours labour to take engine out, fit sump, check clutch for wear, reinstall engine etc, fit new front wing assembly and screw in two towing eyes, hard wire in TomTom and 12v/USB Waterproof socket.

They also gave it a proper run (14 miles) to test that everything was set-up as it should be, both cool and when up to temperature. It's nice to have real pros looking after our cars.

Very impressed and very happy ;D

Now I'm ready for Spa, but weirdly I'm there the day after you boys. I'm there on the 11th May with Goldtrack. I'm happy about this as REIS will still insure me, where as they won't insure me if I do an RMA day.

If any of you are still there on the evening of the 10th, I'll be staying at the La Source hotel.

Cheers,
Stu
