Saw the results on the link Monza posted up - JohnH in the tyre wall on llap 1 of race 1 and then started race 2 from the back of the grid as the only guy on wets and finishes P1 - Donkin a brace of P2's - Stuart gets a P1 in race 1 - Marler P3 race 1 and then DNF race 2 - it will be interesting to hear some reports later sounds eventful despite only 7 cars on the grid

It was a cracker of a day out, definitely going to attend some more races.

Re: Atomcup 2nd race. 11-12 May - Cadwell Park
Just got back home after one of those 'soaking' drives home
In the first race, Richard led from Pole from the off, he got overtaken briefly but quickly won the place back again and was about 6 seconds in front up until about 4 laps from the end. At that point a car that had pitted re-joined right at the point Richard was passing and then for some reason started to race him to de-lap himself. It looked to me like Richard probably wondered where this car had appeared from and caused him to lose focus for a period. Once it had overtaken Richard, it then appeared to slow him down, so the 2nd and 3rd cars soon closed the gap and eventually took the lead.
John H had an off fairly soon after the start and had to retire as the steering wheel was misaligned and he suspected something was bent. After the race, the factory team diagnosed a bent front bracket (the one that the front tow hook mounts to, so they removed the nose cone and replaced it with a new bracket.
It started spitting just before the 2nd race which was where John H managed to be last out of the garage having changed to wets - Good call !
On the green flag lap, he managed to bump into someone, so came into the pits to have a checkup and was forced to join the start from the pit lane. From there he made his way to the front in fairly heavy rain - no doubt ably assisted by his exclusive tyre choice!
Unfortunately Richard M came off the circuit and ran over a marker bollard which pushed the fan into the radiator core and he pulled off the circuit in a cloud of steam.
It was a good day, and it was also nice to see Mr Hedges (and his 'old' Atom 3) also John H's 'old' car (the McLaren paint job) and to meet Stew Bartley and his young son Reece - Thanks for the Snap-On Tshirt Stew!

The track is really only 2 cars wide and bravery is called for - Lots of walls and trees to steer clear of ...
