On the UK rear tow installation, I think it's just a small fillet of steel with tapped thread welded into the corner of the rear chassis braces.

Not sure if they weld that for all orders or only if specified on the order sheet.

How much of any car is bespoke?

My 1964 Alvis has Marina lights and Allegro handles.

I don't know that I can think of a single interesting car where there is not quite a lot of borrowing from another marque or two.

For example one of the key reasons why the Atom doesn't have doors is that it determines a hell of a lot about a car - the windscreeen, The rear of the bonnet width  the A pillar line, the B pillar line etc. etc. If it had doors, a LOT more of the car would need either to be tested or borrowed.
