At Eagles Canyon Raceway Saturday Feb. 26, Eddie Hill will be running, showing, and telling about his new Ariel Atom 3 demonstrator.  The track is about 12 miles northeast of Decatur, Tx., on highway 51, and the forecast is for mid-70's and mostly sunny.  It is a fun track, with friendly folks, and the new Atom is great!  Love to have you!

Good luck Eddie! I have to say a test drive with Eddie Hill is definitely on my "things to do before I die" list!

I'm totally bummed I can't go. I had initially intended on going but didn't realize this being the last weekend of the month that I will have to work all weekend.

My TraqMate data recorder gave me the following info from my best lap in the last session at Eagles Canyon last Saturday.

Lap time 1:58.2

Maximum gee:
Braking-1.45
Accelerating 1.08
Right gee (turning left) 2.20
Left gee (turning right) 1.98

This on my company demonstrator, a  2011 Ariel Atom 3.  I put new Hoosier A6 tires on the stock wheels, but NO other changes or adjustments.  The alignment, ride height, suspension settings, engine, etc. all just as it came.

That is very close to my best times with my modified Atom II with the huge Formula Atlantic slicks on it!  I am VERY HAPPY with this new Atom 3!! ;D

Those are huge lateral g numbers! I am guessing you had no problems getting the tyres up to a decent temperature at stock sizes? Do you know what lat g figures you pulled in your AA2 with wider wheels?

Wow Eddie.

P.S.  I would love to see what the oil inside a motor is doing with 2G's of lateral force.  Will someone remind me how that is kept under control in an Atom 3?

Here is the gee graph on my Atom II at Hallett with my Formula Atlantic tires, after the last AtomFest.

This session had three consecutive laps in the 1:20's, and then the next three laps in the 1:19's.

This gee graph shows my new 2011 Ariel Atom 3 at Eagles Canyon, with the car just as it came, with no adjustments or modifications except a set of Hoosier A6 tires on the original wheels.

This shows two laps in the 1:59's and one lap at 1:58.2

The inner circle is 1.25 gee, and the outer one is 2.5 gee.

Looks fantastic on the graph.  I need to get a camera mount on my steed before heading to the track.
